Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal data ProxyGlance ("we", "us") collects when you use proxyglance.com, why, and what choices you have. We've kept it short because we collect very little.

The short version

  • We don't have user accounts, comments or sign-up forms.
  • We use Google Analytics to count visits. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland it sets cookies only if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
  • We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell or rent personal data.
  • Our web host keeps standard server logs, and we keep emails you send us.
  • When you click an affiliate link, the vendor's website — not ProxyGlance — may set cookies to track the referral.

Data we collect

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting server automatically records basic information about each request: your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working, to diagnose errors, and to count visits to our /go/ redirect links in aggregate. Logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply and to act on your message, for example to correct a fact on the site. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records, and delete it when no longer needed.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to understand how the site is used: which pages people read, how they arrived (for example from a search engine), roughly where they are (country and city, derived from the IP address), what device and browser they use, and which vendor links they click. We use this to decide what to write and to fix pages that don't work well. We don't use it for advertising, and Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off.

Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store full IP addresses. Data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted. Google processes this data on our behalf as a processor under its data processing terms.

Your choice. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics sets no cookies until you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. Until then, it may send cookieless, anonymous signals that contain no identifier. Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on unless you click "Decline". You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer, or block it with a browser extension such as Google's opt-out add-on.

Cookies

ProxyGlance uses these cookies and browser storage:

NameSet byPurposeExpires
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes visitors2 years
_ga_<ID>Google AnalyticsKeeps session state2 years
pg-consent (local storage)ProxyGlanceRemembers your cookie choiceUntil you clear it

The Google Analytics cookies are set only with your consent where the law requires it (see above). Our fonts and images are served from our own domain, so loading a page sends no data to font or image providers.

Some links go through a ProxyGlance address beginning with /go/ and then redirect you to a vendor's website. Once you are on the vendor's site, the vendor or its affiliate network may set cookies so it can credit us with the referral. Those cookies are controlled by the vendor and covered by its privacy policy, not this one.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests for server logs (keeping the site secure and working) and for replying to emails you send us.
  • Consent for Google Analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
  • Legal obligation where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

Sharing your data

We don't sell personal data. We share it only with:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores server logs and serves the site on our behalf.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics as our processor.
  • Our email provider, which stores email correspondence.
  • Authorities, if required by law.

Some of these providers may process data outside your country. Where data leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to data portability. See our GDPR page for details and how to make a request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

ProxyGlance is intended for professional and adult audiences. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
